Frequently Asked Questions           How long does it take to commission a portrait? It largely depends on the length of Natalie's waiting list, which varies. You can receive your priority on the waiting list after an order form is completed, the terms and conditions are accepted, and the 30% down payment is received. Natalie can then give you a firm date to expect delivery. Once your portrait begins, it typically takes 2-10 months depending on whether you choose Option A or Option B (see the timeline for more detailed information). Option A will take closer to 8-10 months for delivery; Option B will take roughly 2-4 months with some additional requirements after the early delivery.           What are the payment terms? For your convenience Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express are accepted. A 30% non-refundable down payment is required, which secures your priority on the waiting list. After your final approval of the finished work of art, the payment terms depend again on the Option you choose (see the timeline for option details). Under Option A, 40% is due when the final email image of the portrait is approved by you. The remaining 30% will be due prior to final delivery. Under Option B, the remaining 70% is due in full prior to the Early Delivery. All invoices and receipts will be sent via email unless requested otherwise.           Do you work from photographs? Because Natalie mainly draws on first-hand experience to best capture the subject’s unique character, she requires the chance to spend some time with the subject and take her own reference photos. If this is clearly not possible, under rare circumstances, Natalie can also work from third-party photos. Good quality photographs are appreciated. Multiple photos are preferred. If Natalie can’t observe the subject in real life, multiple photographs makes it possible for her to study the subject in 2-D.           What if I need the portrait by a special date? If your deadline requires a rush delivery, occasionally Natalie can prioritize your order for a nominal fee. However, this is not always possible due to prior commitments. If Natalie can not meet your special day, simply request Natalie's special gift package. Although the portrait may arrive late, the recipient will still have something to “open” and know that your gift is on its way!
